About Us

Anglican Use Philippines is a blog begun by Ben Vallejo with contributions from Bruce Hall, both of whom grew up Anglican, Ben in the Philippines and Bruce in the United States.  Now we worship regularly in our  local Roman Catholic parishes in the Philippines.

We are part of a growing group trying to bring Anglican Use to the Philippines, called appropriately enough Anglican Use Philippines.  Here is a report of one of our early meetings.  Subscribe to this blog for updates.

Anglican Use is a distinct liturgy of the Latin Rite of the Roman Catholic Church that has it roots in Anglicanism, the Oxford Movement, and the Venerable John Henry Cardinal Newman.  Over thirty years ago,  Pope John Paul II issued the Pastoral Provision which led to the establishment of Anglican Use parishes in the United States including Our Lady of Atonement in San Antonio, Texas, the oldest Anglican Use parish. They have some great material online including video of Anglican Use masses and numerous documents such as The Book of Divine Worship.

As a result of Anglicanorum Coetibus, various Anglican Ordinariates are being established within the Catholic Church in countries around the worldSince such an ordinariate is not expected to be present in the Philippines, the intention of Anglican Use Philippines is to form a prayer group that will meet regularly in Metro Manila under the care of a local ordinary such as the Bishop of Cubao and with advice from the Anglican Use Society. With this blog, we hope to support the local group and to be a source of information about Anglican Use to the wider world.
